ONCE UPON A REMIX (Rising 3rd-4th Graders)

Ready to remix a classic? Turn fairy tales, myths, legends, and fables into something all your own. Writers will take inspiration from these classic tales and experiment with visual storytelling techniques through formats like picture books, graphic novels, and diary entries.

Instructor: Colleen Monaco is an AIS teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She enjoys working with students in small groups to help them grow as readers, writers, and thinkers! Most of all, she loves engaging in read alouds with young learners as a way to enter into the writing process!

Instructor: Laura Wladarczyk is an elementary school librarian in the East Greenbush Central School District. She has been writing for most of her life and loves supporting her students as they become authors and illustrators. She loves reading with her students and helping them find books that will inspire them.

This workshop will run July 13-17, 9am-12pm, at the University at Albany. Space is limited! Please register by June 1, 2026.
