Sensory Storytelling (Rising 5th-7th Graders)

SENSORY STORYTELLING (Rising 5th-7th Graders)

Our five senses determine how we experience and understand everything in the world around us. In this workshop, we will play with an array of colors, textures, music, scents, and sounds to inspire unexpected and sensory-filled writing!

Instructor: Devin Egan has spent most of her career teaching English to high school freshmen. Her love of writing dates back as far as she can remember; however, she credits her third grade teacher with fostering this passion through expansive writing workshop time and a belief in her potential to write to change the world. Devin believes the best writing comes from playfulness and risk-taking.

Instructor: Katie McCarty teaches 9-12th grade English at Niskayuna High School. She loves teaching writing because it enables writers to experiment with voice, stylistic techniques, and so much more! She believes each writer has a unique story to tell. Her favorite part of the writing process is watching students gain confidence as they develop their writing voice.

This workshop will run July 13-17, 9am-12pm, at the University at Albany. Space is limited! Please register by June 1, 2026.
