BEYOND WORDS: DISCOVERING THE MANY WAYS TO TELL A STORY
 (Rising 1st-4th Graders)
Ignite your imagination and join us for a storytelling adventure! Stories can take many forms, and there is not a single way to write or create one. Together, we'll explore the diverse ways stories can be shared—through wordless tales, comics, real-life accounts, fantastical journeys, and beautiful picture books. This week, writers will go on a journey to find stories within themselves and in the world around them.
Instructor
: Jamie Gray teaches 10th and 11th grade English in Voorheesville. She has previously taught 6th and 7th grade. She loves discovering new books and series, and sharing these with her students and her own children, and she enjoys finding writing inspiration all around her: from literature, to art, to nature and to her own personal experiences.
Instructor
: Colleen Monaco is a kindergarten AIS teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. She enjoys working with students in small groups to help them grow as readers, writers, and thinkers! Most of all, she loves engaging in read alouds with young learners as a way to enter into the writing process!
Instructor
: Ericka Silverman teaches fifth grade at Sand Creek Middle School. She has taught grades 2 through 5, throughout her career. With a deep passion for literacy, she is not only committed to helping her students become confident readers and writers, but also dedicated to instilling a lifelong love for books and storytelling. Through sharing exciting new books, guiding creative writing projects, and encouraging student voices to be heard through writing, she believes in teaching students the power of self-expression.
This workshop will run July 7-11 9am-12pm, at the University at Albany. Space is limited! Please register by June 1, 2025.
